Berwick Market Place Shopping Center is currently under construction at U. S. Highway 17 and Berwick Blvd. The shopping center will be home to a 74,000-square-foot Kroger, the largest in the Savannah metropolitan area.

The Shops buildings will be constructed in a style reminiscent of ³Old Savannah,² with brick, stacked stone, and stucco.

Berwick Market Place Shopping Center is a unique Kroger Shopping Center presently under construction at U. S. Hwy 17 and Berwick Boulevard. The shopping center is located approximately 1.5 miles from the east entrance of Southbridge, a large 900-home development in Chatham County.
The adjacent Berwick Plantation will have approximately 3,300 new homes. The shopping center is under construction on U. S. Hwy 17 between Quacco Road and Dean Forest Road, two miles north of U. S. Hwy 17 and State Hwy 204.
Berwick Market Place Shopping Center will be home to a 74,000-square-foot Kroger, the largest one in the Savannah metropolitan area.
Due to the growth of this West Chatham County area, the Kroger may potentially carry some home-office furniture, small appliances, organic food, and other specialty items, along with its standard grocery products. Kroger and the other shops are scheduled to open at the end of the year.
The Shops buildings will be constructed in a style reminiscent of ³Old Savannah,² with brick, stacked stone, and stucco. The buildings will keep to an Equestrian theme that will be aesthetically pleasing by its use of indigenous materials, lush landscaping, brick pavers, and streetscape light poles.
The design will be accentuated by rooftop cupolas with decorative weather vanes, awnings, decorative columns, and ³Carriage Type² lanterns to further emphasize points of entry and interest.
A wrought-iron fountain designed in the style similar to Savannah¹s famous parks and squares will add visual impact as well as soften the streetscape with the soothing sounds of water cascading into a basin.
By incorporating several different elements into the facade of the center, further character is added to the blend of small shops that will be occupying the spaces.
Berwick Market Place Shopping Center will be a benefit to the surrounding community and its residents by providing a unique shopping experience with a variety of retail tenants and restaurants that have already expressed interest in the center.
